Security at Van Gogh Airport

Passenger security screening

In line with TAY law, all passengers departing from Van Gogh Airport are subject to security screening. Security screening at Van Gogh Airport is conducted after checking in - follow the signs to Departures.

Tips to clear security quickly

Save yourself some time by preparing for the security screening. Here are a few tips:

  • Ensure your laptops and electronic devices are charged before screening. We may need to ask you to turn them on.
  • Remove metal objects and mobile phones from your pockets.
  • For international flights, liquids, aerosols, and gels have extra limitations. You can view information about these limitations below.
  • Divest of coats, jackets, and belts as they need to go into the tray separately.

Carrying Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (international flights only)

When carrying liquids, aerosols and gels in carry-on luggage, here are few guidelines you must follow:

  • All liquids, aerosols and gels must be in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml.
  • These containers must be carried in a re-sealable, transparent plastic bag.
  • The total volume of the bag must not exceed 1 litre (approximately 20cm x 20cm).
  • Each passenger can carry only one such bag.
  • The bag must be presented separately at the security checkpoint.
This includes items such as drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, gels including hair and shower gels, toothpaste, deodorants, soaps, lip gloss or any other item of a similar consistency. Medicines, baby milk and food and special dietary requirements necessary during the flight can be carried in larger quantities exceeding 100ml, but may require additional verification at security.

Prohibited Items

Certain items are not allowed in your carry-on luggage for security reasons.

  • Sharp items: Box cutters, ice picks, knives, razor-type blades, and scissors with a blade length more than 6cm are prohibited in carry-on luggage.
  • Sporting goods: Baseball bats, hockey sticks, pool cues, ski poles, and similar items are not allowed in carry-on.
  • Firearms and explosives: Guns, ammunition, firecrackers, flare guns, and other explosives or incendiary items are strictly forbidden.
